Over 1,000 babies die each year in the UK due to premature birth
It’s the biggest killer of children under five. So we’re fighting back. Help us fund ground-breaking medical research to save lives. Together we will find the answers.
A simple thing like cream tea can help a child like Wilfred…
For Imogen and her husband Euan, their son Wilfred’s sunny nature and enjoyment of family life are especially precious because born extremely prematurely and then suffering from dangerous bowel disease necrotising enterocolitis (NEC), they feared they would lose him.
1 in 13 babies are born prematurely in the UK every year, that is over 60,000. Wilfred was born at just 25 weeks and four days, weighing a tiny 2lb 6oz.
Imogen fully supports the work that Action Medical Research does. “There’s lots of support available when you’re in hospital but actually you want to know that research is there to help ensure that people don’t have to go through premature birth in the first place.”
Over £248,000 raised funding groundbreaking medical research that could go on to benefit millions

Q: How much plastic is in the cream teas box?
A: The box will contain a wooden knife and a recycled brown napkin. The boxes themselves are also recyclable as are the glass jam jars. We are doing all we can to be mindful of the amount of single-use plastic used. The scones do come in plastic packaging for hygiene reasons during packing and to keep them fresh and the Roddas cream is in a plastic pot. However that should be accepted by your local council for recycling (except for the removable film top). We are working hard to do all we can to ensure this is an environmentally friendly product for the future.
Q: How much of the £6.50 goes to your charity?
A: From each box costing £6.50, £3.70 (57%) goes towards finding and funding the very best research to help change and save babies and children’s lives. The additional £2.80 covers the cost of the contents of the box and delivery. We are lucky to receive generous support from our volunteers who give their time to pack the boxes and suppliers who, where possible, provide contents at low or no cost. To date we have raised £248,000 from our Action Cream Teas promotion.
